Hitch install & warranty question on 2024 Kicks

I'm thinking about adding a hitch to my 2024 Nissan Kicks so I can throw on a small bike rack for those weekend adventures. I'm not looking to tow a trailer or anything fancy, just the rack and maybe a cargo carrier every now and then.

I did notice that the warranty mentions stuff about "misuse, like towing," and it kinda made me second-guess whether just adding a hitch could mess things up if I ever need to have any warranty work done later.

The dealership where I got the car said it's pretty common for people to add hitches for bike racks without any issues, but I'd really love to hear from anyone here who's actually done it. Have you ever had any hassle with warranty claims over a hitch on a Kicks? Any advice or experiences would be super helpful

I don't think adding a hitch for a bike rack or carrier will mess with you warranty. I guess as long as it's installed properly and not used for towing above its limits. I've seen a few go with the Draw-Tite Class 3 hitch and had no issues. Did your dealer mention any specific brands they recommend?

Adding a hitch for a bike rack won't void your warranty unless it directly causes damage, don't let vague language scare you. Automakers often rely on fear....not facts, to dodge responsibility.

The whole "voiding your warranty" over a hitch is more scare tactic than fact. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), a dealer has to prove that your hitch caused the problem. But manufacturers still use vague language to intimidate owners into sticking with factory setups, because God forbid you try to make your car more useful than they intended :)
