Looking to replace stock tires: firestone ft140 205/55R17 v rated. They ran pretty well outside the winter months , but handling was really not great during the Chicago/Wisconsin winters.

was going to purchase new ones before the seasons change again. Anyone running with Michelins crossclimate 2 tires? Given the more aggressive tread pattern I’d assume they Better handling overall? Louder? Worse gas mileage?

At what point do we stop pretending all-seasons like the FT140s can really handle Midwest winters? Wouldn't a true all-weather like the CrossClimate 2 just make more sense year-round in that region?

FT140s were fine in dry and mild conditions but once the temps dropped and the roads iced up, they felt outmatched. CrossClimate 2s give you legit winter traction without needing a full swap to dedicated snow tires. Have you already priced out a set locally or still weighing options? I saw a decent rebate last week but not sure if it's still running.
